Varna Flights Guide
Bulgaria’s third largest city sits on the Black Sea, and holds a historical retinue of buildings and memorials that rivals other cities of its size. From pre-historical nomads to the Romans, the crusaders to the Ottoman domination, Varna has seen it all.
It is considered the vacation hub of Bulgaria, since it sits on the picturesque sea and the summer months are warm. Varna’s architectural delights are many. There’s the Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral, a unique catholic building with obvious Islamic influences. Then there’s the beautiful Stoyan Bachvarov Theatre and the Central Railway Station. Asparuhov Bridge lights up at night and presents the city in a modern tone, while the Euxinograd Palace speaks to completely different historical influences. The crowning frescoes in downtown are mesmerizing. Varna’s beaches are popular in the warm months, and the shopping is world-class. Outside the city one finds the ancient Roman city of Odessa, one of the first places to see Christianity take over. The Varna Archaeological Museum houses many of the artifacts unearthed there. Another place of important history is the Battle of Varna Park Museum, where the very last battle of the Christian crusades ended in the defeat of the Polish king by the Turks.
