Torreon Flights Guide
Torreon sits in the northern states of Mexico. It is has the 9th largest metropolitan area in the country, but unlike cities in the south, it remained relatively undeveloped until the end of the 19th century. It was witness to the battles in the Mexican Revolution, but today its reputation is based on its industrial role in the national economy.
Torreon has many manufacturing plants, and is a center of mining. This is a stark example of a modern economy that has little to do with its beginnings as a ranching town. Only one tower from the days of the old mission remain, which is an unassuming keep standing at a corner beside a gas station. The city’s only noteworthy site sits atop a hill overlooking the center. The Cristo de Las Noas holds vigil over town, and is the third largest sculpture of Jesus in the whole of Latin America. Torreon’s museums are the Museo de la Revolucion and the Museo Regional de la Laguna. To the north of the city sits San Pedro de las Colonias, a quaint and historic town that was where a key battle took place during the Revolution.
Francisco Sarabia International Airport serves Torreon. American Eagle, Aeromexico, United, Interjet and VivaAerobus have regular flights scheduled.
