Pereira Flights Guide
Pereira is a picturesque city founded by colonists from Antioquia that occupies a lovely setting at the foot of the Colombian Andes. As the center of the cafetera region, many come to Pereira in order to visit the surrounding coffee plantations.
Pereira is a lively city because it is made up in a grand part by university students. City businesses have therefore evolved to adapt to the needs of a young populace that is at once educated and jittery for entertainment. For whatever reason, its position in a bowl valley means that at different elevations, different microclimates exist. The best place to take in the city is up the Olaya Herrera Park, which also offers vantage points that look out over attractive farmland. In the city center, the Plaza Bolivar, named for the liberator of Latin America, is very pleasant, and makes Pereira feel decidedly like a small town instead of the big city that it is. Of city sites, one of the best museums is the Gold Museum, where examples of what perhaps might have been El Dorado tickle the imagination.
Matacana International Airport receives mostly domestic flights from the following carriers: Viva Colombia, Aexpa, Avianca, Copa, ADA and LAN.
