Paris Flights Guide
Located along the scenic River Seine, Paris is the capital and largest city in the country of France, and is a city with rich past. Paris is a bustling, thriving hub of fashion, haute cuisine, finances, and political and cultural developments as well. Two of the most famous landmarks in the world are located in Paris: the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, which pays homage to those who lost their lives in wars.
Attractions in Paris number in the hundreds, and include some of the best museums and art galleries in the world, including the Louvre, which houses some of the world’s most famous paintings and art pieces from past and present artists (including Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo), and also be sure to visit the Musee de Picasso that contains the works of Pablo Picasso, and the Musee de Cluny which houses works and artifacts from the Middle Ages and the Impressionist era.
Paris is considered to be the capital of haute cuisine, and has hundreds of fine, upscale restaurants to prove it. For brunch before visiting the Louvre, check out Casa Luca or Le Roland Garros (both voted best brunch by tourists and the website www.oubrunchers.com); make dinner reservations at an upscale restaurant like Epicure (which received the 2013 Travelers’ Choice award), Bistrotters, Le Cinq (that is famous for its seven course dinner experience), or try out Au Petit Sud Ouest for foi gras and champagne. Paris is also famous for its cheeses, so be sure to check out one the city’s many cheese shops, such as L’Affineur Affine and Ble Sucre (a bakery).
Of course, shopping is one of Paris’ best pastimes, as the city is the “international capital of style” and is home to the twice-yearly Paris Fashion Week and its many exclusive boutiques, tailoring and its upscale shopping centers. Have a shopping spree at Beaugrenelle, Carrousel de Louvre and the Champs Elysees, all three of which are close to downtown Paris and the many landmarks. Also, check out a few of the city’s largest shopping centers (farther away from downtown, but easily reached by the metro) including Les Quatre Temps Shopping Mall, Val d’Europe and La Vallee Village.
Getting around Paris is fairly easy, with an abundance of different modes of transportation. Paris has the Metro, a large rail network, light rail, plus plenty of cabs, taxis and buses. The city has four main airports: Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Paris-Orly, Paris-Le Bourget and Beauvais-Tille.
