Long Beach Flights Guide
Tucked in between Los Angeles and Orange Country, Long Beach sometimes can feel as dense as its high population density. But for being so packed, the ethnically diverse inhabitants get along with one another well enough.
The city is named for its most apparent and important feature; the beach. Ever since the area began development at the end of the 19th century, the water, pier and eventual port services became central to its economy. Today city high rises front a wide swath of beach that is symmetrically dabbled with ranks of palms. Its maritime history is reflected in one of its top attractions, the Aquarium of the Pacific, which lists among the largest aquariums in the world. Another attraction sits in the old dock yard; the Queen Mary ocean liner cruise ship. There’s a boardwalk there, tour opportunities, and restaurants to boot. The backdrop of high modern buildings makes the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Adobe site seem improbable. But the 1844 site is the oldest in the city and is Long Beach’s principle landmark.
Long Beach Airport serves the city. Airlines that operate here are Delta, JetBlue, US Airways and Alaska Airlines.
