Key West Flights Guide
America’s brilliant-water playground is Florida’s southernmost city, located out in the Florida Keys. Key West is the name of the capital and island on which it is founded. It was one of the first areas settled by Spanish colonists. Key West is today connected to other keys and to the mainland via the magnificent overseas highway.
Key West is also the southernmost US city, and there’s a marker in town reading “90 miles to Cuba”. Another landmark of the city is the house where Ernest Hemmingway wrote for ten years of his life. Another attraction is the Dry Tortugas National Park, which takes visitors on a ferry out to Fort Jefferson, a military installation that was never finished and instead made a part of the park. Closer to town, the Key West Nature Preserve lines the seashore. In town, Shipwreck Museum is interesting, and offers vistas from its tower. Both the Key West cemetery and the Key West AIDS Memorial are curious sites to visit. Walking along the seafront promenade is enough to feel justified in the trip, and maybe visiting the other keys to lounge out on the sandy beaches isn’t a priority.
Key West International Airport is served by Delta, Silver Airways, Southwest, American Eagle and seasonally by US Airways.
