Iloilo Flights Guide
Iloilo is the capital of the province of the same name, and the main hub in the Western Visayas island group located south of the main Philippine island of Luzon. It owes its existence to Spanish colonization, which brought fishing villages together and began an industry of sugarcane production in the countryside.
Iloilo City is not home to the main attractions that bring tourists here in the first place. However, Iloilo’s old Fort San Pedro still stands, though it is today a settlement of squatters. Calle Real stretches out and preserves the structures dating from colonial times, though their aspect has been somewhat decayed. Museo Iloilo is where a bit of history can be gleamed from its exhibits before moving elsewhere in the province. Of all the sights in Iloilo Province, Miagao Church is the most important. Dubbed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is today a symbol of the country. Another intriguing catholic house of God is the San Joaquin Church, also dating back to the Spanish colonial era.
The local Iloilo International Airport is served by Cebu Pacific, Tigerair Philippines, Philippines Airlines and AirAsia Zest. Travelers must pay a taxi to get into the city.
