Antalya Flights Guide
Antalya is perfectly positioned on the Mediterranean coast, and today enjoys fame as the focal point of the modern Turkish Riviera. But Antalya’s history is based in antiquity, and though the nearby all-inclusive resorts and beaches are tempting, the heart of the city is in its ancient preservations. Like many well-preserved old cities, Antalya’s Kaleici, the old town, is defined by its narrow and random streets. Surrounding much of the old town is an ancient wall, and the Hadrianus Gate is a beautiful set of three archways beside which are kept quaint park spaces for relaxing. Of the many striking features of Antalya’s old quarter, the ramparts of Yat Limani offer one of the most memorable, and have stood the test of time since their construction by the Romans. Hidrirhk Kulesi is another old rampart, a tower that provides wonderful views over the city. Speckled elsewhere are other buildings with notable height, including the Saat Kulesi clock tower and the Yivli Minaret. Antalya has more modern attractions as well. Turkey’s beloved Ataturk had a home in Antalya, and visiting it for some is considered a pilgrimage. The city’s airport is a major hub of transport, and receives flights from dozens of airlines. The biggest carriers are: Onur Air, Air Berlin, Atlasjet, UTair Aviation, Ural Airlines, Thomson Airways, Thomas Cook, Tailwind Airlines, Pegasus Airlines and Nordwind Airlines.
