Alice Springs Flights Guide
The capital of Australia’s infamous “Outback” is this town of less than 30,000 souls. The town takes its name from a nearby spring, the only surface water available in this Northern Territory municipality. Sitting a dizzying 1,500 kilometers from the closest big city, Alice Springs enjoys the tranquility of rural living.
The area might appear to be desolate, and with an endless desert greeting the eye at every turn, it’s hard to believe that there’s actually quite a bit of water underground. There are a number of interesting exhibits to see, such as the strange collection at the Old Timer’s Museum, or the quaintness of the Adelaide House and their tea time. The Museum of Central Australia should be the first thing on anyone’s list. Most visitors come here for the unique natural surrounds, which includes caverns, deep craggy gorges and the run-of-the-mill bush land. There is hot-air ballooning, 4x4 and motorcycle rentals, camel rides through the desert, and the gem fields offer an original day-trip. Finally, the Henburry Meteorites Conservation Reserve offers an interesting first-hand walk through a huge meteor crater.
To get to Alice Springs one can drive, fly or take a train. Flights arrive and leave from all the major Australian urban centers.
