Aguadilla Flights Guide
Aguadilla is a colonial town in Puerto Rico whose history for the Western world began when Columbus came ashore there during his first voyage to the Americas and met the indigenous Taino. Since then Puerto Rico had been a Spanish colony until eventually coming under American protection, and today it remains a US protectorate.
The Christopher Columbus Monument is a white marble cross that stakes the claim of Columbus’ presence in Aguadilla. Aguadilla is a city of 60,000 people that is known in Puerto Rico for its beautiful makeup and for the surrounding areas. In the city itself, there’s the Banyan Treehouse, which is remarkable for its size and interesting to look at for the banyan tree that it occupies. Besides the Columbus Monument in Parque Colon, there is another monument to fisherman and another to the composer Rafael Hernandez. Aguadilla is centered on El Parterre Jose de Jesus Esteves, where the most historic architecture is to be admired. The fountain’s source is a natural spring that has run for centuries. Outside of town, El Crashboat beach is a popular draw for its white sand and shipwreck. Near where the US once had an airbase is Wilderness Beach, whose awe-inspiring cliffs drop jaws.
Most arrive to San Juan to visit the island, but Aguadilla’s Rafael Hernandez Airport receives flights from three carriers: United, JetBlue and Spirit.
