Acapulco Flights Guide
Mexico’s premiere Pacific coast resort town has been upholding its reputation as a hot international destination since the 1950s. Nowadays overshadowed by Cancun and Cabos, Acapulco offers an experience that has a much more Mexican flare.
Acapulco is a big city. Its zocalo takes after the rest of the country in that it provides plenty of benches beneath shading trees to rest and feed the pigeons. It is here that the local flare is best felt. Down at the beaches, massive resort projects dominate the scene. They have been there for a long time, and many newer buildings are constantly popping up. Those who prefer less crowded beaches can make their way to Puerto Marquez, a bay that is smaller than Acapulco’s and whose beaches are lined with fair restaurants. Out in the sea one can spot Isla de la Roqueta, an island that offers small beaches away from the hordes. It is there that the infamous cliff divers perform their feats at La Quebrada, which has become an activity inseparable from Acapulco’s image.
The General Juan N. Alvarez International Airport receives mostly domestic flights. Aeromar, Aeromexico, VivaAerobus, Volaris and Interjet arrive from national cities. Sunwing Airlines and Air Transit offer seasonal flights from Canada, and United Express flies regularly from Houston.
