Jetstar Flight Guide

Jetstar Airways

Jetstar Flights

Jetstar Airways History

Jetstar Airways is one of Australia’s main budget airlines. It has come about as part of a general trend to appease a global populace that is more concerned with cheap tickets than special in-flight and ground perks. The airline was founded in 2003 by the flag carrier of the country, Qantas. The main competition is the other budget carrier Virgin Blue.
Jetstar Airways operates a group of 80 planes that fly to some 35 destinations. Although the airline is not a part of any many global airline alliances, Qantas is, and therefore there are a number of perks for passengers who take the time to read between the lines.

Why fly Jetstar Airways?

Jetstar Airways is a brand new airline whose business model has been planned and executed according to the global trend-setting heavy hitters. That means that it offers a simple but serious product to customers that want nothing more and nothing less.
Unlike some low-cost airlines, particularly those found in Europe, Jetstar Airways offers a frequent flyer program. Well, the loyalty program is not wholly Jetstar Airways’ but instead is the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. This program allows passengers of Jetstar Airways and those on Qantas flights to enjoy the same perks in terms of miles gained. The levels of membership run from Bronze to Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One. Miles can be redeemed for free tickets and other upgrades, while membership is also dependent on said accumulation.

Jetstar Airways Flight Destinations

Jetstar Airways does not have a very extensive network of operational routes in terms of a global market. Instead, the airline serves domestic and regional travelers mainly on a vacation and holiday basis. The countries that are served are Indonesia (including Bali), Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and New Zealand. Most of Jetstar Airways’ flights serve destinations within Australia, including its most dense region in Queensland.
The airline does not have any codeshare agreements to be precise; however, since its parent company Qantas is a member of the Oneworld alliance, passengers on those partner airlines can fly aboard Jetstar Airways flights without needing to purchase a distinct ticket.

On Board Jetstar Airways

Jetstar Airways’ economy class is a standard class with decent seats and quality attendant service. The airline organizes tickets depending on fare perks, turning a profit on the hope that people prefer to pay more for relatively cheap refundable tickets instead of the regular fare. The economy class receives complimentary food and drink, but on domestic flights everything is for purchase. On international flights meals must be reserved ahead of time. Each seat also has a personal television screen packed with movies and games.

Business Class Flights

Unlike other low-cost airlines, Jetstar Airways does offer a Business Class product. The seats do not necessarily stretch back as much as other airlines, but they are made of leather, they are wider and there is ample leg room. These resemble more what a traditional Business Class once looked like. Food and drink, as well as meals, come included in the Business Class ticket price. There is unlimited access to movies and games on the entertainment console, and the complimentary amenities pack is a nice addition for a low-cost airline.

Jetstar Airways Lounges

Business Class passengers who buy what is called the “Max Bundle” can get access to lounges operated primarily by Qantas and other partners. These lounges offer a relaxing way to prepare for a flight, with complimentary food and drink, comfy seating, Wi-Fi access and more.

Jetstar Airways has its website at There, one can book their flight, change their ticket if they selected such an option, manage their rewards, check on special offers and review airline and seating information.
