Finnair Flight Guide
Finnair was founded in 1923 and since that time has remained a company primarily owned by the state government. It is the flag carrier of Finland, the Scandinavian country tucked between the Baltic and Russia. Its main hub is in the capital of the country, Helsinki, and the airline makes heavy use of Brussels Airport for its cargo operations.
Why fly Finnair?
Finnair is a member of the Oneworld alliance. Passengers on Finnair can therefore enjoy much of the benefits that they have on Finnair flights aboard other carriers. The airline is typically Scandinavian in that it is a high-class airline that has received a 4-star rating from SkyTrax. They have also earned many other awards for excellence.
The frequent flyer program is called Finnair Plus and functions just like other programs of the same kind. Passengers accumulate miles that can then be exchanged for free flight tickets, upgrades and more. There are four tiers of membership, beginning at Basic, then upgrading to Silver, Gold and Platinum. The higher the membership level, the more benefits one can receive. The program shares procedures with other Oneworld partner airlines as well.
Finnair Flight Destinations
Finnair serves mostly a European base. However, with some 46 planes they fly to over 70 destinations that include places in Asia and America. The airline boasts the fact that they fly the northern route in order to arrive to Asia, thereby cutting the flight time significantly. Most major European cities are served.
In addition, the airline holds many codeshare agreements. They have agreements with Icelandair, Air France, Belavia, Czech Airlines, Aeroflot, TAP Portugal, Flybe Nordic, Air China, Bangkok Airways and Rossiya. The subsidiary company, budget airline Flybe Nordic, brings passengers to additional locations.
