EgyptAir History

In the last few years Egypt has seen some very important events. These events have adversely affected the tourism and business industries of the countries. However, EgyptAir has been around since 1932, with its current name change having occurred in 1971, and today it still remains the profitable flag carrier of the country.
The airline operates some 80 aircraft serving 78 national and international destinations. Its main hub is in the national capital, Cairo, which is the largest desert city in the world.

Why fly EgyptAir?

EgyptAir is a member of the Star Alliance. Some of the partner airlines have entered into special agreements with EgyptAir such that its passengers can partake in special rewards and inter-airline privileges.
The frequent flyer program is the main incentive to fly with EgyptAir. It is called EgyptAir Plus. This program functions along the same lines as most other airline loyalty programs. Customers fly on EgyptAir planes and those with which the airline has a special agreement, and they gain miles according to distance traveled, class of ticket and ticket price. These miles can later be redeemed for free tickets, upgrades and more.

EgyptAir Flight Destinations

EgyptAir flies mostly to Africa and the Middle East. They have 12 domestic destinations and 19 international ones in Africa. In the Middle East, some 20 international airports receive EgyptAir flights, including Jordan, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and others. In Europe, EgyptAir flies to over twenty destinations. They also have regular serve to countries as far away as Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, the United States, China and Japan, among others.
EgyptAir also has a number of codeshare agreements by which its passengers can fly on several airlines under one ticket. Some of the airlines that have such agreements with EgyptAir are United Airlines, LOT Polish, Brussels Airlines, Aegean Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Gulf Air, Ethiopian Airlines and others.

On Board EgyptAir

Economy Class seating aboard EgyptAir is generally well-reviewed. They offer increased seating pitch and legroom compared to rival airlines in the region, and their onboard service is friendly and plentiful. Snacks and drinks are complimentary, and on longer flights meals are served as well. Passengers will generally have a choice of meals between more Westernized fare and Egyptian cuisine. In-flight entertainment is standard, and on newer planes one can expect personalize screens.

Business Class Flights

EgyptAir’s business class is upgraded from the economy class, but it depends on the route and aircraft model. Domestic flights and lesser-known routes generally come with a traditional Business Class product. Newer aircraft have greatly-upgraded reclining seats in their Business Class with extra legroom and wider space for extra privacy and comfort. The food service is also upgraded, and is served with additional side dishes. One has a wider variety to choose from, but in general the Business Class aboard EgyptAir is not much to compete with more modern and competitive European airline Business Classes.

EgyptAir Lounges

EgyptAir operates a number of lounges, which are available to Business Class ticket holders and to members of its EgyptAir Plus with higher levels of membership. The lounges are standard, and though they are a good upgrade from the regular waiting areas, they are not especially nice in comparison to other lounges of the kind. All the same, they offer privacy, comfort, food, drinks and connectivity for a good working and relaxing atmosphere.
