On Board China Eastern Airlines
The economy class offers a standard economy seating arrangement on domestic and international flights. The armrest comes with basic jacks for headsets, while the in-flight entertainment system can be accessed on a personal screen in the seatback headrest of the seat in front. The in-flight meal service is varied and one has a choice between meals in order to suit specific tastes. Complimentary drinks and snacks are available, as well as meals on longer flights. Seats aboard China Eastern Airlines planes tend to be a bit stiffer than on some comparable airlines, but this is made up for by the fact that the recline is above-average.
Business Class Flights
Business Class passengers receive a large baggage allowance, in addition to wider seats that are capable of reclining to a much greater degree than those in economy. Some flights sport newer Business Class seats, which can be converted into fully-flat, angled beds. Older planes have traditional Business seats that are wider but which do not allow for full recline. The personal television screen, however, is located in the armrest and can be pulled out and turned on a swivel. The programs and movies are in several languages, and complimentary headsets are offered.
The meals that are offered come served on good dishes with sturdy silverware. One has a choice between Western and Chinese meals. Meals are only available on longer-haul flights. Flight attendants in Business Class and in Economy Class on international flights speak English, but this might not be the case on domestic routes.
All Business Class passengers are offered a complimentary amenity kit which includes such products as skin creams, tooth brush and paste, floss and more. Business Class also receives blankets and a complimentary drink menu that is enough to suit most tastes.
China Eastern Airlines Lounges
China Eastern Airlines has a special lounge for its high-tier reward members at its hub in Shanghai. Otherwise, some of the airline’s international partner lounges are available for the highest-level members of their rewards program, but Business Class passengers might instead be referred to the standard international lounges that are shared by a number of airlines. These lounges tend to have the basic amenities including TV, Wi-Fi, bathrooms, good seating and a bar.
China Eastern Airlines operates a number of websites in various many global languages. Each website is catered to the country residents it targets. The main portal can be found at www.global.ceair.com. These websites as of December 2013 are not as comprehensive as other sites, and it can be hard to find the information one is looking for.
