Bangkok Airways Flight Guide

Bangkok Airways

Bangkok Airways History

Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world these days. Southeast Asia as a whole is growing in popularity, and where not long ago they’d experienced serious economic and social turmoil, today that situation has been turned on its head. Bangkok Airways has been around since 1968, and is today one of the best ways to hop around the region.
Bangkok Airways is not a member of any global alliances because its scope is limited. It once based its operations out of Don Muang Airport, but now handles the bulk of its flights through the main Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Why fly Bangkok Airways?

Bangkok Airways is cheaper than a lot of other options. One can take buses to many of the places it flies to, but if flying is the only way one wishes to travel, there are not very many options to choose from. Bangkok Airways offers a quality service on old and new aircraft alike, but once inside the fuselage it’s hard to tell the difference.
Its main frequent flyer program is called FlyerBonus. It functions much the same as other airline rewards programs, rewarding its members with a chance to grow their membership, and also to redeem their points for upgrades, tickets and more. The higher tier members also have access to the airline lounges.

Bangkok AirwaysFlight Destinations

Bangkok Airways operates 24 planes that fly to 23 destinations in the region. They fly to Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, and 4 locations in Burma. They serve Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Macau, the Maldives, Malaysia, Singapore, India and Cambodia. Within Thailand, Bangkok Airways flies to over 19 different destinations.
Bangkok Airways also holds codeshare agreements with a number of airlines. Three of those airlines also have agreements to share reward program member benefits. These are Air Berlin, Etihad Airways and Japan Airlines. Other airlines with regular codeshares are Thai Airways International, Lao Airlines, Finnair, Cathay Pacific, Air France, Malaysia Airlines, KLM, EVA Air and a few others.

On Board Bangkok Airways

Bangkok Airways has good reviews of its onboard service. Most of its planes are newer, and the economy class is kept in top shape. The seats are standard, and comfortable. Flight attendants make their rounds and offer passengers a number of complimentary treats, from drinks and beverages to full-fledged meals even on short haul flights.

Business Class Flights

The Business Class is called “Premier Class,” and is not offered on every aircraft. For those who do book a premier class seat, they can expect to find single-aisle columns of chairs for extra privacy. The seats themselves are wider and can be reclined to a greater degree than the economy class. Business Class passengers enjoy a dedicated check-in counter, more luggage room, greater flyer point gains and upgrade meals.

Bangkok Airways Lounges

Bangkok Airways operates two lounges at their main hub. One is for domestic travel while the other is reserved for those passengers holding international Premier class tickets. High tiered members of the rewards program can also access the lounges. There is a wealth of comfortable seating available, which offers an atmospheric experience apt for both relaxing and working. There are complimentary drinks and snacks, a Wi-Fi connection and a lounge bathroom.

Bangkok Airways has its website at There, one can read up on the lounges, seats flight information and more. Tickets can be purchased directly from the site, and points can be managed there as well.
