Allegiant Air Flight Guide

Allegiant Air

Allegiant Air History

Allegiant Air is a relatively new America airline that was founded in 1997. It does not have a traditional hub, but the company is located in Enterprise Nevada, an apt name for a city that hosts a billion-dollar company. Allegiant operates 66 planes that are mostly McDonnell Douglas aircraft built in the 1980s. The main cities that Allegiant Air operates out of include Fort Lauderdale, Bellingham, LAX, Phoenix, Orlando, Honolulu and several others.

Allegiant Air Flights

Why fly Allegiant Air?

Allegiant Air is a low-cost airline. Their business model is dependent on the acquisition of second-hand aircraft that can be refurbished and outfitted with the necessary amenities to make a comfortable flight. Passengers who fly on Allegiant are not looking for special perks and rewards programs. There is no frequent flyer program, Allegiant Air does not hold codeshare agreements, and there it is not a part of any alliances. It follows a modern trend to address a growing demand for cheap flights without all the bells and whistles. The company creates and ends routes depending entirely on a revenue outlook.

Allegiant Air Flight Destinations

Allegiant Air flies to destinations in 40 U.S. states. It also offers seasonal charter flights to holiday destinations in Mexico and Canada. The US states with the most airports served by Allegiant Air are California, Illinois, Florida, Montana, North Dakota, New York, North Carolina, Washington, Virginia, Texas, Tennessee and Pennsylvania.
Allegiant Air is an independent airline that does not have any partnerships. Nor does it have subsidiaries or is it a subsidiary itself. It operates on a dime-a-dozen basis, offering a standard service for cheap in exchange for simple clients who are not concerned with in-flight or ground amenities.

On Board Allegiant Air

Allegiant Air attendants are nice. The company is known to pull out of airports when profitability is low; theirs is a very commercial endeavor. The economy seats are good enough, but the idea is to use configurations that maximize the carrying capacity of the plane. All planes are single-class cabins. There is no in-flight entertainment, so passengers should think ahead and charge their computer, buy a book, or get really tired before boarding. Snacks and drinks are available on all flights, but one needs a credit card to purchase them. Meals are also available only for purchase on longer flights. Most flights are short haul as the older aircraft were designed for such durations.

Business Class Flights

There is not Business Class, and there is no First Class. All planes are configured in single-class cabins with one aisle.

Allegiant Air Lounges

There are no airport lounges and since the airline does not have any alliances or codeshares, passengers cannot access lounges in that manner. Some airports have standard general lounges that are available for a fee. One could fly allegiant, and get a bit of pampering by visiting such lounges.

Website

Allegiant Airís website is located at www.allegiantair.com. The website is bare-bones. An interesting business choice by Allegiant Air has been to restrict purchasing of its tickets to its website only. Nor does the company have any check-in desks, but rather rents them, and sometimes it even hires airport personnel to deal with check-in routines. The website is filled with special deals and seasonal offers, and should be checked periodically for those interested.
