Air Mauritius Flight Guide
Air Mauritius History
Despite being the airline of an Indian Ocean island nation located off the east coast of Madagascar, Air Mauritius is considered to be the 4th-largest carrier in lower Africa. It has been around since 1967 and since then has grown into the reputable fleet it is today.
That fleet comprises 12 planes that serve 26 destinations. The islands that make up Mauritius, however, have been the frequent victims of pirate activity nearby, and failing tourism has greatly hindered the airline’s profitability.
Why fly Air Mauritius?
Air Mauritius flies out of its hub at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Port Louis. The airline itself was founded in part by fellow airline Air France. Today, the carrier offers a number of incentives to fly with them, not least of all because they’re the dedicated carrier of the beautiful Mauritius.
Their frequent flyer program is called Ketrelflyer. There are only two levels of membership, Silver and Gold. The miles that one accumulates function just like other programs of the kind, allowing passengers to save them to later be redeemed for free tickets and other perks. The high-ranking members also have access to the airport lounge.
Air Mauritius Flight Destinations
Air Mauritius’ destinations are almost entirely international. They bring in tourists and businessmen from far and wide. They fly to Comoros, Australia, France, China, Belgium, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Germany, India, Kenya, Austria, Madagascar, the UK, South Africa, Singapore, the Seychelles, nearby Reunion, Mozambique, Switzerland, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
Through a number of codeshare agreements, its passengers can continue aboard other airlines on one ticket. These codeshares are kept with South African Airways, Air France, Malaysia Airlines and Emirates.

Business Class Flights
Business Class is a serious upgrade to Air Mauritius’ economy. The class offers a more traditional interpretation of business class seating, with doubled pitch and much more privacy. The meal service is all on-demand, and several fine dining options that are catered by a private chef all one to feel in the throes of luxury. The seats do not lie flat, however. Major perks include additional luggage allowance, priority check-in and more.
Air Mauritius Lounges
Air Mauritius operates an airport lounge at its main hub in Port Louis. Business Class and frequent flyer program members can access the lounge, which is called The Amedee Maingard Lounge. Economy class passengers might be able to pay a fee for entry. There is one other lounge that Air Mauritius operates, and it is out of Hong Kong International Airport. It is called The Travelers’ Lounge. Both lounges offer entertainment options including recent publications, television, comfy charges, Wi-Fi Internet and more.
The website of Air Mauritius is located at www.airmauritius.com. It is a very well-maintained website with all the information that one needs to find out how their flight will be. One can book their ticket there, read up on destinations, find out and manage their reward program miles and more.
