Aeroflot Russian Airlines
Aeroflot Russian Airlines History
The national flag carrier of Russia owes its beginnings to the success of the Russian Revolution. It was founded in 1923, and therefore counts among some of the long-standing airlines in the world. The airline was once the sole property of the Russian government, and although today much if it remains in those hands, it has been privatized to a certain degree.
Aeroflot Russian Airlines operates a network of 138 airplanes that fly to 116 destinations around the world. It is a large company with a number of subsidiaries. The airline has its main operations out of Sheremetyevo International Airport just outside of Moscow.
Why fly Aeroflot?
Aeroflot Russian Airlines is a member of the SkyTeam alliance of airplanes. This means that passengers aboard Aeroflot can enjoy special perks include access to partner lounges for those who qualify, and special ticketing procedures aboard those airlines.
The main incentive to fly with Aeroflot Russian Airlines is the Aeroflot Bonus frequent flyer program. This loyalty program is based on the same plan that other programs of the kind are. That is, one collects miles by flying with the company on longer, more expensive flights, and in the higher-class cabins. These miles can then be redeemed for rewards including free tickets. The tiers of membership begin at the Regular level, then goes up to Silver, and then Gold. Gold members receive the most perks, including access to lounges.
