San Diego International Airport (SAN) is located 3 miles from downtown San Diego, California. SAN is also called Lindbergh Field due to the fact that famous aviator Charles Lindbergh flight-tested the Spirit of St. Louis at the airport’s first airstrip before his historic 1927 journey. In 2012, more than 17 million passengers passed through San Diego’s airport.
Transfer between Terminals
San Diego International Airport has three terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Commuter Terminal. All international flights depart from and arrive at Terminal 2. The Airport Loop shuttle service is free and provides frequent transportation between terminals. The shuttle operates 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

Transport into Town
Bus: Bus Number 992, part of the Metropolitan Transit System, connects the airport to downtown San Diego. Rail: Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner and the COASTER Commuter Trains can be reached via Metropolitan Transit System Route 992. Trains depart from Santa Fe Depot train station.
American Admiral's Club Lounge is located in Terminal 2, Airside above Gate 23, and is open from 5am-5:30pm on Sunday-Friday, and 5am - 3pm on Saturday. Delta Sky Club Lounge is located in Terminal 2 next to Gate 37, and is open from 5:15am-11pm. United Club and is located in Terminal 1 on the Mezzanine Level near departure gates, and is open from 5:30am - 10pm. USO Lounge is located in Terminal 1 on the ground floor, and is open from 6am - 12am.

The top five airlines at San Diego International Airport are Southwest Airlines with 38.45% of SAN’s market, United Airlines has 15.3%, Delta Air Lines has 10.9% of the market, American Airlines with 7.9%, and Alaska Airlines has 6.5% of San Diego International Airport’s market.
Free wireless internet is available throughout the airport. Art exhibits can be viewed throughout the terminals, or travelers can get a free behind-the-scenes tour of the airport. The “Terminals to Tarmac Tour” is two hours long and gives airport explorers a behind the scenes look at runways, endangered species areas, and airport art.
General parking lots are available in proximity to each of the three terminals. Terminal parking costs $2 for 30 minutes and $28 for one day. Long-term parking is available in two different lots. Long Term Lot 1 is located on Harbor Drive and costs $18 a day. Economy Lot is located on the Pacific Highway and costs $11 a day. Each lot is connected to the terminals via a free shuttle service.
