Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and a majority of the airport’s property is located within Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. PHL started in 1925 as a National Guard air training field and was known as “Hog Island”. The site of the airport was dedicated in 1927 by aviation pioneer Charles Lindbergh, but proper terminal building were not built until the 1940s. Philadelphia Municipal Airport became Philadelphia International Airport in 1945 when direct flights were first scheduled to Europe.

Philadelphia International Airport has seven terminals. These seven terminals are accessible by foot. US Airways operates a shuttle that runs between Terminals A-East/A-West and Terminal F, and Terminals B/C and Terminal F.
