John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is approximately 12 miles southeast of Lower Manhattan. JFK first opened in 1948, and is currently the busiest international airport in the United States. Originally named New York International Airport in 1948, the airport was commonly called Idlewild Airport until it was renamed John F. Kennedy International Airport in 1963. JFK Airport is one of only two airports in North America that has scheduled flights to all six of the world's inhabited continents.

JFK has six terminals containing 151 gates. The six terminals are numbered 1–8 excluding Terminal 6 and Terminal 3, which were both demolished in 2011 and 2013. All of JFK’s terminals are connected by the AirTrain system.

Rail: JFK’s AirTrain connects the airport to the New York City Subway and Long Island Rail Road. Bus: City bus lines connect JFK to the New York City Subway and Long Island Rail Road. Terminal 1 includes the Air France Lounge which is located near the Security Checkpoint. This lounge is open from 12 PM – 11 PM. Terminal 2 is home to Delta Air Lines Sky Club which is located on the Mezzanine Level.
