Opened in 1936, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is the third largest in Europe and the 9th largest in the world. Located within the city limits, FRA serviced over 56 million passengers in 2011. Today, FRA is the central hub for Lufthansa.
Transfer between Terminals
Frankfurt Airport has two large passenger terminals and a smaller First Class Terminal which is used exclusively by Lufthansa. Terminal 1 is divided into concourses A, B, C, and Z and is primarily used by Lufthansa. Terminal 2 was opened in 1994, is divided into concourses D and E and is primarily used by Oneworld partners. Lufthansa operates a separate First Class Terminal near Terminal 1 for the use of its first class passengers. This First Class Terminal provides security screening and customs facilities, valet parking, restaurant, a cigar room, and bubble baths. Travelers can move between terminals with SkyLine, a people mover system which has stops at Terminal 1 AZ, Terminal 1 BC, and Terminal 2 DE. The travel time between the terminals is 2 minutes with trains arriving every 2–3 minutes during the day. There is also regular bus service between both terminals.

Bus: The Frankfurt bus system services 840 bus stops in Frankfurt and surrounding areas. A bus station is located in Terminal 1, Arrivals Hall. S-Bahn: The Frankfurt subway system is known as the S-Bahn and services Frankfurt and its surrounding region. An S-Bahn station is located in Terminal 1 at FRA airport. Tram: The Frankfurt tram is the above-ground rail system servicing Frankfurt and its surrounding region. Train: There are two railway stations at the airport—one for regional trains and one for long-distance trains. Frankfurt Airport regional station (Frankfurt Flughafen Regionalbahnhof) is located in Terminal 1, Concourse B. This station provides access to the S-Bahn commuter rail lines S8 and S9. Commuter rail lines S8 and S9 depart every 15 minutes during the day. Travel time to Frankfurt Central Station is 11 minutes and to Hauptwache station 15 minutes. Frankfurt Airport’s long-distance station (Frankfurt Flughafen Fernbahnhof) is connected to Terminal 1 by a pedestrian bridge. This station is the final stop of the Cologne–Frankfurt high-speed rail line. Approximately 10 trains per hour depart in all directions. Taxi: Taxi service from FRA to Frankfurt Central Station or Frankfurt city center takes 10–15 minutes.

Business Parking offers a separate entrance, extra-wide parking spaces, and a short walk to the check-in halls. Business Parking is located in garage P 4 at Terminal 1.
