Auckland Airport (AKL) is located 13 miles south of downtown Auckland, New Zealand. The airport was first founded in 1928 on leased land from dairy farmers. In 2013, 14.8 million passengers passed through Auckland Airport, making it the busiest airport in New Zealand. Auckland Airport was voted the 12th best airport in the world in 2013 at the Skytrax World Airport Awards.
Transfer between Terminals
Auckland Airport has two terminals: The International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal. A free shuttle bus connects the international and domestic terminals. These two terminals are also connected by a covered walkway.

Transport into Town
Bus: AIRBUS Express connects the airport to the Downtown Ferry Terminal 24 hours a day. Route 375 connects the airport with Botany Town Centre. 380 Airporter operates between the airport and Manukau City via Papatoetoe Railway Station. Rail: At Papatoetoe station passengers can connect to rail services to Britomart Transport Centre via the Southern and Eastern lines. Taxi: Taxis are located outside the arrivals area (door 8) at the international terminal and outside the Jetstar forecourt at the domestic terminal. The approximate taxi fare between the airport and the city costs about NZ$75 – NZ$90.
There are four special lounges inside the Auckland Airport. Emperor Lounge is located in the International Departures on Level 1, and is open 6am - 11pm on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, and 6am - 12am on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
